What is this profile?
This assessment measures your tendency toward five well-documented cognitive biases: confirmation bias (favoring information that supports what you already believe), anchoring effect (over-relying on the first number or impression you encounter), availability heuristic (judging likelihood by how easily examples come to mind), overconfidence bias (overestimating the accuracy of your own judgments), and loss aversion (weighting potential losses more heavily than equivalent gains). Each dimension is measured through three behavioral questions about how you actually think and decide, not abstract opinions about bias in general.
Why does it matter?
Cognitive biases aren't a sign of low intelligence or poor character — they're built-in features of how the brain processes information efficiently, and they affect everyone to some degree. Left unexamined, though, they can lead to costly financial decisions, damaged relationships from clinging to first impressions, or missed opportunities from dismissing evidence that doesn't fit an existing belief. Knowing which bias tends to hijack your thinking gives you a specific, actionable target instead of a vague resolution to 'be more rational.'
How scoring works
You'll respond to 15 statements using a 5-point scale from 'Not true at all for me' to 'Almost always true for me.' Some statements describe resistant, bias-aware thinking (higher agreement means a higher score), while others describe the biased pattern itself (higher agreement means a lower score, since these are reverse-scored). Your total score across all 75 possible points reflects your overall resistance to biased thinking, while your five dimension scores show which specific bias is strongest for you.
Interpretation guide
A lower score in any dimension isn't a verdict on your intelligence — it simply flags where your default mental shortcuts are currently strongest, which is often shaped by stress levels, past experiences, or simply not having had a reason to examine that pattern before. Use your results to notice, in real time, when a familiar bias might be operating (like sticking to a first price in a negotiation, or dismissing a friend's counterargument too quickly). The goal is catching the pattern in the moment, not eliminating bias entirely — that isn't realistic for any human brain.
